Dodgers' Chuck Neal takes a ride on the back o fCubs' Pete Whisenant, who brok up double play in 4th inning of second game of double header here 8/29. Whisenant was forced at second on Harry Chiti's grounder to Pee Wee Reese. Play went from Reese to Neal. Cubs lost first game, 6-4 and won second game, 4-3. He played major league baseball from 1956 to 1963 as infielder for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and the Cincinnati Reds, appeared in the 1956 and 1959 World Series, and was selected twice as an All-Star. Thomas Peter Whisenant was born in 1929 in Asheville, NC and died in 1996 in Port Charlotte, FL. He played major league baseball from 1952 to 1961 as outfielder for the Boston Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators and the Minnesota Twins. He was a member of the Cincinnati Reds coaching staff in 1961 and 1962 and led the Modesto A's to the California League championship in 1982.
