He played major league baseball from 1978 to 1984 as catcher for the Montreal Expos and the New York Yankees. Bobby is one of only four players born in Cuba to make their debut in the 1970s along with Minnie Mendoza, Oscar Zamora, and Orlando Gonzalez. After his playing career ended, Ramos became a minor league manager and coach with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Anaheim Angels. Jose (Azcuiz) Martinez was born in 1942 in Cardenas, Matanzas, Cuba. He played major league baseball from 1969 to 1970 as infielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates. After his playing days, Jose Martinez was a Kansas City Royals coach from 1980 to 1987, including for the World Series winning team in 1985.
