If you have any questions about a particular piece, please ask before the auction ends. BIO: William DeKova White was born in 1934 in Lakewood, FL and went to college at Hiram College. He played major league baseball from 1956 to 1969 as 1st baseman and outfielder for the New York Giants, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and the Philadelphia Phillies, appeared in the 1964 World Series, and was selected 5 times as an All-Star. After his playing days ended, White was a New York Yankees broadcaster from 1971 to 1988, teaming with Phil Rizzuto. In 1989, he was named President of the National League when Bart Giamatti vacated the position to move up to become Commissioner of Baseball, and he became the highest-ranking black ever in professional sports. During his five year tenure, he presided over the expansion of the major leagues in 1993. Luis Enrique Arroyo was born in 1927 in Penuelas, Puerto Rico and died in 2016 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He played major league baseball from 1955 to 1963 as pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees, appeared in the 1960 and 1961 World Series, and was selected twice as an All-Star.
