BIO: Ronald William Hassey was born in 1953 in Tucson, AZ. He played major league baseball from 1978 to 1991 as catcher for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics and the Montreal Expos, and appeared in the 1988 and 1990 World Series. The only player in Major League Baseball history to catch two perfect games, Ron Hassey caught Len Barker's perfect game in 1981, and Dennis Martinez's perfect game in 1991. After his playing career ended, Hassey spent a year as a Yankees scout before joining the expansion Colorado Rockies as a coach for their first three seasons (1993-1995. After spending a year as a St. Louis Cardinals coach in 1996, he worked in the Arizona Diamondbacks front office for seven seasons. He managed the Carolina Mudcats in 2004, and since 2005, Hassey has been a Seattle Mariners coach.
