BIO: John Kelly Lewis was born in 1916 in Gastonia, NC and died in 2011 in Gastonia, NC. He played major league baseball from 1935 to 1949 as 3rd baseman and outfielder for the washington Senators, and was selected twice as an All-Star. In the Army Air Force, he flew more than 350 missions and received honors for his service in World War II from 1942-44.
