NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Johnny Hudson, pictured in his Brooklyn Dodgers uniform circa 1937. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1937, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: John Wilson Hudson (Mr. Chips) was born in 92 in Bryan, TX and died in 970 in Bryan, TX. He played major league baseball from 936 to 945 as infielder for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and the New York Giants. Hudson was with Montreal in 94 and tried for a slot with Nashville in 946 but ended up accepting a job as player-manager for Jacksonville. He managed the Jacksonville Tars (946-948) and was a scout for the New York Giants (949-957) and San Francisco Giants (958-970). He played in the first night game at Ebbetts Field in 938. He was nicknamed ''Mr. Chips'' because he was considered a good guy to have around when the chips were down. SKU: GB10908
