NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Johnny Mostil, pictured in his Chicago White Sox uniform circa 1943-44. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1943-44, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: John Anthony Mostil (Bananas) was born in 896 in Chicago, IL and died in 970 in Midlothian, IL. He played major league baseball from 98 to 929 as outfielder for the Chicago White Sox. During spring training in 927, Mostil attempted suicide, cutting himself multiple times with a razor blade. He recovered and even played later that season, and was again the regular Sox centerfielder in 928. After his playing days ended, he went on to a long career as a minor league manager and a scout for the Sox from 949 to 968. SKU: GB11322
