BIO: Hazen Shirley Cuyler was born in 898 in Harrisville, MI and died in 950 in Ann Arbor, MI. He played major league baseball from 92 to 938 as outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds and a single season with the Brooklyn Dodgers, appeared in the 925, 929 and 932 World Series, was selected in 934 as an All-Star, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 968. His name "Kiki" (pronounced "kuy-kuy", rhymes with "eye") was a shortened form for his last name. He gained his nickname as a child. In Bill James' Historical Baseball Abstract he (James) mentions that Cuyler was a stutterer. After his illustrious career as a player, Cuyler managed in the minor leagues, winning the Southern Association Championship in 939 under Joe Engel and the Chattanooga Lookouts and the Washington Senators at Engel Stadium, with one of the only fan-owned franchises in the nation. He was a coach for the Cubs and Boston Red Sox during the 940s, and was still active in the role for Boston in February 950 when he succumbed to a heart attack at the age of 5. In 98, Lawrence Ritter and Donald Honig included him in their book The 00 Greatest Baseball Players of All Time.
