NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Sherry Robertson, pictured in his Washington Senators uniform circa 1940. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1940, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Sherrard Alexander Robertson was born in 99 in Montreal, CAN and died in 970 in Houghton, SD. He went to college at the University of Maryland. He played major league baseball from 940 to 952 as infielder for the Washington Senators and a single season with the Philadelphia Athletics. Sherry Robertson was the adopted son of Clark Griffith. His brother was former Twins owner Calvin Griffith. He was also brother in law of Hall of Famer Joe Cronin and Joe Haynes. Robertson served as farm director of the Washington Senators (958-960) and Minnesota Twins (96-970). He was killed in a car crash while on a hunting trip in South Dakota. SKU: GB11991
