HEATED WORDS AT HOME PLATEThis is a sage of a game within a game, of two strong-willed men and a baseball rule that will be severely tested next year. It is the story of Alan Hrabosky, St. Louis' Mad Hungarian, and the Cincinnati Reds' George Foster, two members of the cast of what turned out ot be a 6-2 victory for the Reds and Doug Capilla over the Cards. The Hrabosky-Foster confrontation and the accompanyingfireworks took place in the sixth inning as Foster came to the plate with two out and two Reds on base. Hrabosky had just been ushered into the game, bringing the reaction taht he covets so dearly, the boos of the crowd.

BIO: George Lee Anderson (Captain Hook) was born in 1934 in Bridgewater, SD and died in 2010 in Thousand Oaks, CA. He played major league baseball for a single season in 1959 as 2nd baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. Anderson went on to manage the Cincinnati Reds (1970-78) and the Detroit Tigers (1979-95). He is ranked fourth all-time for career managerial wins and is one of only two managers in the history of Major League Baseball to win the World Series while leading clubs in both leagues. He retired from managing after the 1995 season with a lifetime record of 2194-1834, for a .545 winning percentage. He was elected to the Hall of Fame as a manager in 2000. He was also inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame the same year. On May 28, 2005, during pre-game ceremonies in Cincinnati, Anderson's jersey number, 10, was retired by the Reds.
